Bob Hutton wins two more awards for his book "Bloody Breathitt: Politics and Violence in the Appalachian South"

Bob Hutton—a specialist on Southern history who is teaching our "Introduction to American Studies" this fall and our new course next spring on "Knoxville and East Tennessee: an Interdisciplinary Exploration" (AMST 410)—has won yet two more awards for his book on "the darkest and bloodiest of all the dark and bloody feud counties" in the United States: Bloody Breathitt: Politics and Violence in the Appalachian South. This book has now racked up the Kentucky History Award, Appalachian Writers Association Book of the Year for Nonfiction, the Weatherford Award for Nonfiction, and being named finalist for the Wiley-Silver Prize.
