Service and Community Outreach at UT (SCOUT)

You could be awarded up to $500 for a service learning/outreach project!

Service and Community Outreach at UT (or SCOUT) awards were established to give UT students (especially those in American studies) encouragement, recognition, and support when they undertake projects that blend scholarship with community service and work for social justice.

  • Do you have an idea for a community outreach project with a social service or social justice component?
  • Would the project enhance your academic or career goals, especially in interdisciplinary American studies?
  • Would a named scholarship enhance your resumé?
  • Would $500 help you complete your project?

Applications are due at the end of March each spring semester. Projects may be undertaken during the summer and/or the upcoming fall term.

The Service and Community Outreach at UT (or SCOUT) awards give outstanding students (especially in American Studies) encouragement, recognition and financial support when the undertake projects that blend scholarship with community service and work for social justice. While an endowment is being built, SCOUT awards will be funded through annual donations. Your gift(s) to either or both funds are greatly appreciated.
