De Ann Pendry selected to receive the 2013 ESPIRITU LATINO AWARD

De Ann Pendry, steering committee member and Senior Lecturer in Anthropology, was selected to receive the 2013 ESPIRITU LATINO AWARD presented by Centro Hispano de East Tennessee. This honor is presented to an individual or organization of non-Latino origin that has gone the extra mile to reach out and give a hand to the Latino community or provide service and leadership to causes that impact the Latino community. De Ann has done extensive work on immigrant rights issues with the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and other groups. At UTK she does excellent research and teaching touching on these issues.
