Jacob Hayes to spend Spring 2013 working as a legislative intern for the Chief Clerk of the Tennessee State House of Representatives

Jacob Hayes, a senior American Studies major, is spending Spring 2013 working as a legislative intern for the Chief Clerk of the Tennessee State House of Representatives. In this job, Jacob serves as a clerk on House committees, maintains records of actions taken while the House is in session, and does various clerical tasks. This internship gives him the opportunity to work each day in the state Capitol (a building first set to use in 1859) in the same environment as Speaker of the House Beth Harwell, Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey, and sometimes even Governor Bill Haslam.
